Weekly Meetings
Each week the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) leads and conducts the meeting. When the meeting is called to order, the Scouts are grouped by Patrols and the SPL leads the Troop in the pledge to the American Flag and the reciting of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law - our guiding principals. The SPL executes the plans he made with the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, the Patrol Leaders from each Patrol, and the Scoutmaster at the monthly Patrol Leader's Council Meeting. Generally each meeting has a balance of Scouting skills work, Scouting game playing, planning for the next monthly event, and Merit Badge work. The SPL executes the plans he made with the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, the Patrol Leaders from each Patrol, and the Scoutmaster at the monthly Patrol Leader's Council Meeting. Weekly meetings are held every Monday night from 7:30-9:00, and walk-ins are very welcome! For any questions or comments please e-mail the Scoutmaster by clicking on the "Contact Us!" link near the top of the page.
Monthly Events
Once a month, the Scouts plan and execute a weekend Troop activity. These activities consist of campouts, backpacking trips, river-rafting or canoeing trips, bicycling trips, rock-climbing trips, historical tours,
and other trips envisioned and voted upon by the Scouts during their yearly planning. The adults help them execute their program. Campouts are Patrol style, and even the adults have their own Patrol. The Patrol method concept is one of the biggest differences between Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting and an essential and integral part of Troop 435's program. Scouts to not have to have a parent or guardian present at campouts. However, unless the activity planned would be too strenuous for a younger child, all campouts are Family Campouts where all members of the Scout's family are invited to attend.

Summer Camp
Each summer, one week is dedicated to Scout Camp. The Scouts pick the camp they want to attend from information provided by the Troop Committee. Troop 435 generally goes "out of council" to summer camp, but it's all up to the Scouts to decide. Note that summer camp participation is the only non-family type campout that we have. Only registered Scouts, Scouters, and parents /guardians are
allowed to participate. The Scouts work on Rank Advancement, earn Merit Badges and HAVE FUN! It is imperative that newly crossed-over Webelos attend their first summer camp because they earn the majority of the requirements between the Tenderfoot and First Class ranks which helps jumpstart their path to Eagle.
Troop Committee
The Troop Committee is made up of registered adult leaders. We strongly encourage a Scouts parents or guardians to become involved in the Scouting Program. There is a position available for each and every adult, and as mentioned above, there is a direct correlation between the attainment of Eagle Rank by a Scout and that Scout's parents or guardian's involvement in the program.
Sample Calendar
Troop 435 always has one or more high adventure outings each year. In the sample year (2007) below the older scouts went to Panama in Central America for 10 days of hiking, canoeing and sightseeing. In 2008 scouts 14 and over went to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico for 10 days 80 miles of backpacking. All scouts can participate in a trip to Gettysburg and surrounding areas including Washington DC. The troop camps near Gettysburg and takes day trips. This trip was done in 2006 and will be repeated in 2009.
